Spring/Summer/Autumn 2015

A lack of blogging for most of 2015 after the Scottish 2014/15 season, ready in anticipation for this season to start! Here are a few photos of some climbing from 2015. I have mainly been working in North Wales on a combination of multi-activity residential school trips, family holidays and mountain skills courses, navigation, scrambling and rock climbing. We have had a big house project on for most of 2015 so trips away have been limited, but we did manage to get to Picos de Europa in Northern Spain during September and a News Years climbing/skiing trip to Cogne/Aosta valley in Northern Italy.

May 2014, North Wales, South Wales, Devon and Cornwall - Rock Climbing

 May has been a great month, a mix of work and play, with some fine weather. I have worked on some multi activity outdoor courses with some ace young people from Brighton and Shropshire, and some Rock Climbing courses with adults, wishing to learn and gain skills in Rock Climbing. I have managed some cragging in the evenings in Snowdonia and some 2/3 day trips away to Wye Valley and the South-West - definitely the highlight. The Culm Coast of Devon wasn't super classic but the Cornish Granite sea cliffs of West Penwith were ace.  Thanks Garry for the photos.

24-10-10, North Wales Limestone - Rock Climbing

Today I have been sport climbing at the limestone crags along the A55 near Colwyn Bay. We spent the morning at Penmaen Head, climbing some excellent flowstone walls. Maybe North Wales' premier low-mid grade sports crag. Then headed to Castle Inn Quarry to climb the excellent Indian Summer F6a (photo - right) and the Trad Route Pioneer Cracks E1. Fine View Wall has some excellent rough limestone reminiscent of Pembroke.

PJ Mountains can offer Sport Climbing Rock Courses, from Intro level to Advanced. Sport climbing (bolted) is a fairly safe introduction to rock climbing, and North Wales is an ideal place to learn the ropes. For more details please contact info@pjmountains.co.uk.
